WHAT IS LIP AUGMENTATION?
While many patients are satisfied with the fuller lips that they receive from a fat transfer or an injectable filler, others want a longer-lasting solution. Patients will have their choice of size, shape, and material to use, which Dr. Ho will use his expertise to help patients choose the look best suited for their needs and goals.
HOW DOES LIP AUGMENTATION WORK?
Depending on the augmentation option the patient chooses, surgery may or may not be needed, but all of the options can be performed as an outpatient procedure. With the insertion of implants or the use of Alloderm, incisions at the outer corners of the mouth are required for implantation. The incision opening will be closed after with dissolvable sutures. Injections of fat or medical-grade dermal fillers do not need incisions and will be implemented with a syringe. It may take several injections to get the desired fullness. Patients can expect the lips to be tender and sore for several days after the surgery. Scarring is very minimal with a lip augmentation surgery because the incision is placed on the outside of the mouth in the natural crease of the lips. Once healed, the incision is barely noticeable at all. Aftercare instructions will be given to properly care for the lips.

I did the dissolving of the lips I have never had them dissolved within 5-7 years. I did lip filler, lip flip with Botox, and around the eye Botox. This was my first experience with Acacia. Do lip implants look fake?
Implants are made with a silicone material that feels and looks natural. With his years of training, Dr. Ho performs lip augmentation — so your results will appear natural but still impressive. During your consultation, he will discuss the size and shape of upper and/or lower implants to achieve your needs and goals. In 2 – 3 months, your implants will get into their final position, and the inflammation will subside — so you may see your results.
Is lip augmentation reversible?
Usually, most patients are very pleased with their results. Although, if you're unhappy with your results, you may opt to have your lip implants removed. If you're uncertain about implants, Dr. Ho may suggest fillers since they are less invasive. For dermal fillers, the gel solution will slowly absorb into your body over time, which means that your lips will naturally become smaller.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER LIP AUGMENTATION?
Lip implants are made with flexible, synthetic materials that are made to look and feel natural under the skin. With time, the lips will not look swollen and the implant will integrate with the natural tissues and fibers of the lip. Patients who do not like their lip implants or change their mind in time can have them removed. Fat grafting and dermal filler injections will slowly absorb into the body and thus the lips will naturally become smaller. Repeated treatments will be needed to maintain results.
