Overview
Aged skin is the result of a depleted supply of collagen, which results in lined and wrinkled skin with a loss of volume. Sculptra is comprised of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible, synthetic material, which is safely absorbed into the skin for superior results. Plano, TX facial surgeon Dr. Vu Ho injects Sculptra to smooth moderate to severe lines and wrinkles around the mouth, between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), and in the chin. Additionally, Sculptra can be used to perform a buttock augmentation. Best of all, due to its makeup, Sculptra can last up to two years for long-term results as compared to other fillers on the market.
What to Expect
Sculptra is an outpatient procedure that’s performed in the office. Before the treatment begins, the medical professional will determine the appropriate dosage, the face or other body part will be properly cleaned, and the injection sites will be marked. A numbing agent can be used prior to Sculptra to alleviate any discomfort. With a thin syringe, Sculptra will be injected beneath the skin. The skin will be massage gently to make sure the filler is distributed evenly throughout the treatment area. Sculptra will be administered layer by layer until the desired look is achieved. Sculptra treatment can take up to an hour.
Since Sculptra requires extra care and precision, patients may have to return after the initial procedure to receive additional treatment. This is to achieve full results for the best possible look.

Immediately after treatment, patients should expect to see some positive results. Mild redness, bruising, and swelling can result after treatment, but they will resolve in the first week after treatment. Patients must refrain from exercise and applying pressure to the face for about 24 hours after Sculptra to the face. Patients should follow all of the doctor’s aftercare instructions. With Sculptra, patients can expect beautiful results for up to two years after treatment. Buttock augmentation typically requires multiple rounds of treatments.
